Water Level Subcommittee - David White

- dam was vandalized Aug 2024 and water dropped 8 inches
- dam repaired late Spring 2025
- dam now has signs and real-time cellular video monitoring
- water levels ha been closely tracked for the same period, 2025 lake levels are 6" inches higher
- water-level charts for last 15 years are available on the millerlake.org website
- expectation is 2026 spring waters will be retained and hold water for longer
- plan to add one more level to the dam over the winter or early spring

Randy thanked all volunteers for their efforts repairing the dam
Q: Has there been any recent interactions with MNR? Daryl said no, not recently.

Water Testing Results - Doug Jackson

Shared E.coli results of water testing and pointed out they are on the millerlake.org website. There's a few hotspots, but these vary and we'll watch for consistent results rather than blips. Overall, very healthy from the 25 samples taken.

Municipal Plans from Councillor Aman Sohrab

- donation from Ontario federation Anglers and Fishers to install plastic recycling and cigarette receptacles at all Municipal boat launches to reduce plastic pollution
- finish the micro surfaces on Barney's Blvd
- Tammy's Cove design, drainage, to prepare it for a hard surface, no timeline, but funds are set aside; some ash trees still need to be dealt with before winter

Let's talk projects - Council is looking for input on:
- STA licensing review
- looking for input on BB licencing establishments
- budget planning

Question and Answer:

Q: Does township proactively look into licensing? Yes, but resources are limited. Report if you know of any.
Q: Any update on Eastlink high-speed? Yes, fiber lines are being installed and they were hoping to tie into Hydro One, but not all the infrastructure supports fiber, so they are looking at running them underground. In the spring, they will be reaching out to see who wants it (mail and online). It was recommended by a resident to accept fiber whether you will use it or not - good for resale.
Q: What's happening with Roger's cell service? Yes, it's a big problem. They wrote to CRTC but haven't heard back. A proposal was put forth to put a new tower in Dyer's Bay but it was voted down in council.
Q: What is the hold-up? It's a major safety issue. Why don't we have a generator on our cell towers? Fuel runs out and not enough generators. Aman will follow up on the council's request for more info from Eastlink after the last storm in the spring.
Q: Is there a plan to cut trees back on Forty Hills Rd. Trees and shrubbery are blocking visibility. Johnson's Harbour was done well and it would be great to do the same. Yes, Aman will talks to parks.
Q: Money has been put aside for Tammy's Cove, but what's the delay for paving? Prepping the road had fallen to a lower priority but it has moved up.
Comments: Troy (Public Works) says one issue is the difference between the old and new parts of the road, and ensuring safety but it should move ahead next fall.
Comments: some road/property issues might be holding it up
Q: Ira Lake bridge is crumbling, but project was postponed. Is there any plan for that? Yes, it's one of three bridges going out to tender soon (by Troy). $ is set aside.
Q: Is there a more humane way to cut the brush back alongside roads? Everything is shredded and left behind.
Q: Is it possible to get a Notice Board on Tammy's Cove Road? Yes, we'll ask council and staff.
Q: The Old Barney's Blvd road isn't maintained. 4 properties. Can the municipality maintain it without residents asking every time? Aman will take their concern and follow up with Anna with some answers.

Closing

Randy clarified that if you don't pay your dues, you will be removed from the mailing list.
Anna thanked Daryl again and reminded folks to send any interest for the VP role.
